Default Roses on the Vine

Hi Quilters, four days ago I asked in the Main section about patterns, for charm packs or layer cakes. I got a lot of response and I thank you. I liked this pattern called Double Square Star. I used it for my Roses on the Vines charm packs, but I'm not too happy with it. The colors read as solids and of course I didn't get many roses floral squares. What can I do to liven it up or will the quilting have to bring it to life? None of the blocks are sewn together so if I need to change any I can. My backing and 6 inch border will be out of this blue yardage (bottom left) which 'reads' solid too.

I think it’s pretty! You have some nice big white sections to do some pretty quilting maybe with variegated thread?

there is no law that says you have to do quarter inch seams on the white
if it's overwhelming to you. I do think you'll be happier when it's sewn
and you could always put an applique on the white sections or some soft
colored buttons.
The quilting is going to add to this lovely fabric too. I def hope we get to see.

I think it looks great. But it's your quilt and it has to please you. I'm sure the quilting will bring it to life

I think it's very pretty, but as others have said, it's your quilt.

I love the quilt but I see what you mean about needing to liven it up. Could you use a wild floral fabric to make some type of sashing?it wouldn't have to be very wide.

Can you get add'l yardage of the rose fabric. That would make a nice border. I think it's lovely the way it is. We are our own worst critics so understand where you are coming from.

This is the kind of pattern I really love. It has two patterns in one just on how you focus your eyes. Have you looked at it from a distance? You have beautiful plus's (as others have said can be enhanced with quilting) and the 8 pointed star. I would be proud of it - but, you have to live with it. You could always send it to me LOL!
