Those of you who do raw edge applique for bed quilts that will be used and laundered will you please share what iron on glue product you use and have found to last and keep fraying to a minimum. (please be specific w/ the name / brand / product) thanks in advance.

I use Heat N Bond Lite. I also stitch around the edge with a straight line stitch, or zig zag, or sometimes I blanket stitch. I've never just left it "unstitched".

I use Pellon's Wonder Under 805. I use a small zigzag and I sometimes put some washaway stabilizer (Sulky Solvy) behind it so that the stitches don't gather the fabric. There's no gathering if I use the washaway but a little happens if I don't. I don't normally starch, so ymmv.

Baby girl's quilt is 2 years old now and entirely raw edge appliqued. It has been washed and dried many times and there has been (what I feel is) minimal fraying. I didn't back this with washaway so there's a little bit of puckering but child doesn't care

I use heat n bond lite and stitch all my pieces down using a blanket stitch or small zigzag

wonder under or steam n seam and do either blanket or machine decorative stitches around all appliques. Only time I straight stitch close to edge is art quilt/wall hangings that won't get laundered.

When I do raw edge applique, I do zig-zag around the edges in a "buttonhole" stitch. The closer together the stitches are, the less likelihood there is of raveling. I've never done straight stitching on applique edges, but then I'm still a rank amateur when it comes to making quilts. I have had some remarkable success with the method I use. I haven't heard any complaints thus far! lol!
