Default Name this please

Hello, I met this lady on a trip a while back and she sent me this picture last night. She would like to know the name of this block or quilt, please. I told her I would ask you, because I didn't know. It almost looks like a tumbler piece, except it has a curve edge. She said it was all hand pieced, in tiniest hand stitches, so she wants to finish it with hand quilting. Any ideas?

I am pretty sure it is the Windmill Block. There are lots of variations of this block including the Pinwheel block. The name of the quilt pattern could be something different, whatever the designer wanted to name it.

I think it must be a variation of Winding Ways. I found one with a center 4P that could easily be one square , called a No Curve Winding Ways, but it has more seams than the old quilt top in Patsy's photo. The one I found is made with HST and Tri Recs rulers. This is as close as I have found so far, so thank you for putting me on the right track with Winding Ways. Wish I could find a free paper WW pattern template. I don't want to buy rulers or have no die cutting machine, but want to put this on my to-make-list. https://sisterschoice.typepad.com/si.../my-entry.html

I don't know if any of the following would be helpful.

There is a block about like it in the Dear Jane quilt. The tumbler shaped pieces are straight.

It's very similar to a Dogwood block. I wonder if it's a variation.

Oh Synnove, you got me close and I found it. It's called Dogwood Blossoms. Look at this link at the view on the fence.

Patsy will be thrilled, thank you and everyone else who tried to help. Patsy showed me another quilt her mother in law made for her son & Patsy's wedding 63 years ago. I told Patsy to study the blocks on both quilts. They are the same, but pieces switched. I will have to post pictures later from my phone. I'm just so thankful you quilters came through. I told her you may would know. I am so happy for her!!!!

Well, on closer comparison the Dogwood Blossom is not quite it either. It does have the center square, but then the tumbler looking shape, doesn't have the curve like the original quilt top or like the Winding ways. Winding Ways would look more like it IF it had the center square on point......
