Does anyone know how to get to the underside of the White Family Rotary treadle machine? Other than completely removing the belt, I don't see how to release the belt to get to the underside of the machine to clean and oil it. Help! The manual does not show this, but only instructs me to release the belt. But how?

I do not know about your particular machine. I do not see a belt throw off lever near the band wheel. I'm thinking that your machine drops down from the front when you raise the leaf to close the cabinet. I'm thinking that probably there is a way that you could take the belt off hand wheel when the leaf is in vertical position. Then you could move the leaf back to the prior position without the belt being in working position.

in general when I am trying to pull a belt off, I will try to pull it off the largest pulley instead of the small one. Not as easy to reach but there seems to be more give then.

Thank you all. Unlike my Singer treadle, this one does not have a belt release mechanism. I accidentally threw off the belt and was able to clean and oil the underside of the machine and then was able to get the belt back on. Happy accident!
