I have a quilt top made by someone else that was donated to a quilting club and I chose it from the free table, I like this top done in pinks and greens. the problem is when I went to mark it for hand quilting, I found several ink spots and I have tried removing with no luck, does anyone have any tips on removing the spots? Thanks in advance.

I have found rubbing alcohol to work removing ink.

If rubbing alcohol does not work, sometimes lighter fluid works but be careful.

Delending on the ink, hair spray usually works for me. Without knowing what pen was used I would try it on an inconspicuous spot first. If all else fails, think appliqués.

It depends on what the ink is.

Gel ink will NOT come out. Period. My husband dropped a gel ink pen on an expensive suit shirt and it wicked a stain the size of a quarter. I took the pen and some scraps, made some test stains, tried every single stain remover on the market and every single remedy I could find on the internet. Nothing worked. Finally stumbled across a law enforcement website that recommended using gel ink pens to write checks, because bad guys can't bleach the ink out.

You can always applique something over the stains.

I've gotten old ink spots off my uniform pockets when I was working (nurse). Alcohol works great, but it takes a lot of alcohol and rubbing to get it off.

I did the same thing. All those ink pens in uniform pockets.

I have left the spots and embroideried around them as well as other spots to take the focus off the bad spots.

Another thought is dishwasher tablet or powder tested first. I would dissolve it in a bit of water and dab on someplace

I have used Simple Green for some stains. Also have used TECH. TECH works well on blood. Wash after treating.
