Help with design
I am making an Irish Chain quilt for a lovely lady that is turning 85. The request is to have her and her 45 decedents embroidered in the plain squares. My question. How would be the best way to orient the names; directional or should I place them in an outward spiral so that any way the quilt is laid, some of the names will be upright. I don't believe the quilt will be put on a bed, but may be displayed on her couch. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Like the others, I say directional .. that way you can read them all while on the bedtop.
However, if a lap quilt, I might put the names around the circle/square, so that whichever way the quilt lands on the lap, you can read some of the names. (Although, despite saying that, I bet it would still bug me that they were not all facing the same way!)
Whichever way, a treasured quilt for your friend, for sure!

Well, I can't figure out how to attach the photo, but it is in my alburm. Took me 11 days, with one day of no electricity because of snow in N california. Heavy, wet stuff that broke tree branches and stuff. Why do I almost always make a quilt on a deadline......
Thank you all for your suggestions.

I could have then clicked on the icon (the mountains) left of the smiley in the box above where you type your message and pasted it in the box that popped up (the URL box) and it would have appeared here.
