Default Polyester double knit

Everyone hates it. I am finishing up my 3rd quilt of 7” squares this year then my box will be empty. Two go to charity and one I keep. No batting, flannel back. I have one on the bed downstairs made by Grandma and I treasure it. 1973 embroidered in corner.

well I loved it when it came out in the 70's for clothes No ironing, wore like iron, and so many pretty colors.
Good on you for using it up!

They do wear like iron. I was given a quilt that looked like a clown made of double knit as a baby shower gift. I was told to use it as a floor quilt for tummy time.

Yes, wears like iron. I bought yards at thrift store and use for my table covers at craft shows, no wrinkling, just fold up and ready to use next time.

I used polyester and cotton fabric in my first quilt before I knew that you "weren't suppose" to use poly. They didn't bleed. After years of using just cotton, nowadays, I just use whatever I want. I'm sure in the old days, women used whatever they had.

Those Fortrel quilts make the best car quilts. Wash and wear like iron, non scratching if used as padding, and warm in case of emergencies. My sister makes rugs out of polyester double knit too.

We had a bunch of double knit that I didn't want to use in quilts. DH made a "garden quilt" that we used to cover plants to protect from frost. Didn't blow away like other things you cover the garden with. Lasted forever.

I don't wear it simply because of sensitive skin and how warm it is. For a quilt, no rules, lol! Use what you want and how you want.

The ones I've seen (mainly from the 70's) seem to all be tied. Is that how you will finish yours as well?

It must feel good to finish up a box, have a quilt AND a couple to give away!
