Default Sign-ups for the 13th Annual Christmas Ornament Swap - Closes October 31 at midnight

Ho Ho Ho, it is time to have some fun. This will be the 13th Annual Ornament Swap. Here are the details and if you have any questions PM me.

Ornament Swap
Guidelines:
1. Sign up by October 31, 2023. I must have your sign up by the end of this day. Late entries will not be allowed to participate. No exception!

Mail to your partner on or before November 18, 2023. That is a hard date and must be met by everyone. Please make sure you have a tracking/confirmation number on your package. It just makes it easier to find in the event a package is delayed or lost in the mail.

2. The
Ornament must be handmade. It does not *have* to be quilted. However, please make it something that you would like to receive.

3. Each participant can sign up for only one
swap partner.

4. This will be an international
swap so if mailing internationally is a concern for you, please let me know at the time you sign up. The person mailing internationally must mail their ornament by November 10, 2023.

5. This will be a direct person-to-person mailing. I will PM everyone your
swap person's name that you will be sending to on November 1. This will give me time to sort out names and draw them out. Then the ornamentmail out begins any time after 1 November; but remember the deadline is November 18 for all US mailing and November 10 for all international.

6. If you would like to participate, please PM me the following information:

Screen name:
Real name:
Complete Address:
phone number (for host use only)
Can you mail internationally?
I can be anornamentangel in case of non-performance by another member.

Any additional information that will make it easier for your partner to pick the correct types or colors of ornaments to make for you.

Example: I have a small tree, blue color schemes, or perhaps I collect___.

7. Make sure that you enclose a note or card in your ornament-mailing box to let the person know whom you are! That way they can thank you and give, you credit on the board when they post a picture.

8. Please read the guidelines for all swaps on the board at this link. It applies to thisswap. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-20154-1.htm

9. Have Fun and let your creativity flow! This always is such a special swap. Please PM me is you have any questions. I will be happy to assist in any way I can.

10. This is a Secret, names drawn from the bowl randomly,
swap and you will not necessarily be mailing to the same person you will receive from. However, it could happen. Remember this is a secret so please do not let anyone on the list know whom you have.

11. Please PM me with your tracking/confirmation number information when you have sent your package.

Also, PM me once you receive a package. This is so important! I can keep track of everything going and coming. This will make it a little easier on me and keep us on track when the deadline arrives. Please be a kind swapper and help me out in this way, ok?

12. Please make sure you can make and send the
ornament on time before committing to the swap. If somehow, you have signed up, there is a problem that arises, and you cannot send to your partner, let me know immediately by sending a pm here on the board! We do not want to disappoint someone do we?

Last, but not least, let us share pictures of our creations as we go. The other person does not know who is sending to them until they receive it, so it will be fun to see and share as we go along. OK?

Have fun and enjoy your
ornament swap everyone.

So what are some of the ornaments like? I have seen several blogs with ornament ideas but do ladies here generally make fancy, ornate, complicated ones? I have never done this and dont want to be the country bumpkin sending something simple to someone who has to ability to create spectacular
i just want to get a feel for the levels

Fizzle, the only criteria is that you make the ornament. The variety is fantastic and runs the gamut from simple to more time-consuming. One year I made a simple felt heart with a bit of embroidery and a button accent -- simple but got good comments from the group. The real fun is in seeing how many different ideas people come up with. We've had cross stitch, machine embroidered, wood, quilted, felt, and on and on.

You should be able to find past ornament swaps and see the pictures that were posted. The main thing is to have fun!

Yeah, yeah, I remember the "country bumpkin" feeling the first time I joined this little group. I would suggest looking back a previous year's swap postings AKA threads here on the QB. You will find so many ideas that you will want to steal them all. I sent crocheted snowflakes one year and yarn gnomes another year. Some some folks sent "gift packages" but I suspect that they may know the recipient or maybe are just lovingly generous. That is not at all a requirement. The ornaments I have received have been hand made but not ornate or complicated. I would suggest that you use what you have on hand, and make a little holiday blessing for someone to enjoy. Below is a sample of my gnomes. Found the idea on YouTube and made probably 30 of them for all kinds of little gifting and favors.

Please add me to the participant list. I have been waiting for this one to post. It’s such a stress free, fun swap.

I haven't joined in this swap for a couple of years, but I'm ready to jump in again! Every year I like to tinker with felt ornaments, cross stitch ornaments or quilted ornaments. I am excited to swap!

I have been looking at handmade ornaments and ordered some supplies to try. Thanks everyone for encouragement. I did go back and find some pictures from past swaps!
