Default refurbished machines from ebay?

I want to replace my Eversewn Sparrow 30, but they are no longer being made. I have the table and insert that I want to continue to use and I love the machine.

I see there are some 'refurbished' on ebay, have any of you purchased a modern machine that was refurbished? These aren't sold by dealers so buying there isn't an option.
just looking for opinions and between us all we've seen and done it all

Just another option for you. Have you talked to a dealer for them? Maybe some of the current models have the same profile as the 30 and would fit your table just fine. I have used my same table for several machines. right now I have three different inserts for my table so I could use three of my machines in it. Otherwise, I would just check out the seller of the refurbished and ask what kind of a warranty comes with them and probably try it.

I have written to eversewn and asked which machines have the same footprint. But I LOVE the pink 'un

thanks scotty, that's why I asked about buying refurbished. I think in today's review rich marketplace, dealers have to be pretty straightforward. And I have had a few lemons in my life there were brand new so it can happen regardless of how careful we are.

I had a really bad experience buying an embroidery machine from an individual on eBay.

I should’ve known better, because the price was too good to be true, and the vendor only had a handful of reviews. The machine was a dud, and it took me a lot of fighting to get it resolved through PayPal.

I bought a refurbished machine through e bay and have had the best of luck. Ebay watches their sellers pretty close I think they have a warranty but can't be sure.

Oh, I wouldn't use it for that. Our ancestors have used machines for quilting since they came out and I know we have members here who quilt on their vintage singers... but no, this machine has a very small throat. And small modern machines like this don't have the motor to 'power through' like the vintage machines. It would be fine for table runners/place mats I expect, not sure about bulky seams.

My new viking has a 12 inch throat and very high vertical space and is a dream to free motion on.

oh, diva, I'm so orry you had this experience. embroidery machines are a special class I think.
as a twenty year seller on ebay, they and PayPal do take consumer experience seriously.

lwbuchholz, thank you!
