I need help I have my aunts sewing machine It is a GOOD HOUSEKEEPER 492TW zig zag. I have no manual, and the tension check spring is so messed up and I cannot figure out what to order for a new one?
I don't want to order the wrong thing and then it still will not work. And I can't find anything about this sewing machine no manual or anything online I really hope someone can help me so I can use her sewing machine. If someone could direct me in the right path, I would be so grateful. Thank you

Housekeeper is not a manufacturer's name. It was most likely a machine that's described as a "badged" machine - one that was made for a certain store, sewing machine seller, etc.
Three things I would suggest. One, take a photo in low resolution. Modern cameras take photos at very high resolution. Websites don't like that (takes up too much space) and will not always load. Two, I would take that photo and load it here and also at VSS. (We don't have as many "old sewing machine nuts" here as we used to have.) If you do facebook, find a vintage sewing machine site to post your photo.
You need to know who actually made the machine to find parts. Once you know more about the machine, it's possible that someone will know which spring will work on your vintage machine.
Good luck.
