    Default Virtual Quilting Weekend--Dec 13-15, 2024

Hello from chilly Cincinnati! It's a little cool here tonight . I may need the space heater in my sewing room tomorrow. I have several WIPs I will be working on this weekend and maybe a little organization. I started organizing but then got distracted and did some quilting. I hope lots of you are able to join me this weekend

I will do a special VQW Dec 31-Jan 1. The next regular VQW will be January 17-20, 2025.

One of the things I have learned about my new house and sewing room is I need a space heater! Was thinking of maybe starting a thread on the subject. I know I was in Costco the other week and walked by something that was working amazingly well.

Thanks for setting up the thread and weekend, Heather.

My vision is improving but is still not corrected, I have another appointment now on Jan 3 (with a new specialist) to discuss my contacts. Still, improved is good enough to do a bit of sewing. I call this state "almost seeing" which is better than the legally blind I was a couple of months ago.

So for me this weekend will be about the Bonnie Hunter project, I will have plenty to do. I am current (or at least cut and sewn) up to the Clue 4 which will be released today. I still have a whole bunch (over a hundred) of tiny little 4-patches to press.

Feels good (if you disregard the freezing) to be in the sewing room again! Snowed yesterday and is pretty. My mother-in-law is not doing well and husband is taking day off work to drive to Grand Rapids (about 5 hours away) to see her because next possible chance won't be until January. Her health has been declining rapidly over the last year and time is running out I will stay home and take care of the dogs while he visits.

Yea! Here we are back again. I always seem to have a list longer than my arm and seldom accomplish my tasks. So, I will start with a one item "LIST".

    1. Finish the top using 2.5 inch squares. That means piecing, pressing, prepping a back and storing it until I can layer it.

When that is done, I will expand my list....by one more. The games I have to play with myself! Tee-Hee-Hee!

I'm in, but may not get much done. My current project is Maple Leaf blocks and I have 12 more to make before I can assemble the top, but I only have today and Sunday to do any quilting. I am playing in a Christmas concert Saturday and have a dress rehearsal all morning, walk the dog when I get home, then have to turn around and drive back for the show that night. The concert is in a town about 20 miles from me so it is a bit of a drive. I like to get there a little early to make sure my cello is tuned and I am relaxed a bit from the drive.

I want to be in but not sure how much sewing I will be able to accomplish. With car appointment and events for DGS's and Christmas parties.

I need to get the 2 donation quilts finished from last church group day, and make binding for a banner.

I'm in. I'll be working on two mysteries: Bonnie Hunter's Old Town and Cut & Bolts NYE mystery. This year the quilt is more "advanced" than can be done in a day, so we are getting 5 clues before NYE, then the rest on that day. I'm considering Merry Mayhem's NYD mystery but hers is quite involved this year as well. I'll decide on the latter depending on how much I get done this weekend. Happy sewing everyone.

Yea! I'm finally getting back to productiveness. I have almost established a schedule with Mom's daily hospice care. I have several pixel blocks to assemble after breakfast routine.
Unfortunately, I watched a YT video yesterday. Making the cutest purse from jeans. I selected a red pair from my huge pile of pants that are too big! (I just went down another pant size!) It goes together like the Annie Bag-Easy Does It.

I'm in. I need to finish my BIL's quilt for Christmas. It's mostly quilted, just need to add a couple of more rows of quilting, then squaring up and binding. I'm going to do machine binding. I have not bought the fabric for binding yet, though. I need an animal print or a mottled tan print.

Also, I'm working on community service quilt kits for guild. I happen to have tons of I spy fabric and already cut squares. I'm hoping to get some kits made up for the January meeting. I also have to write the instructions, which I've never done.

I'm glad to see a few people joining me this morning! I have my errands run so now it's time to decide what to work on. I should get out the hole punch and laminator and put away the papers littering my cutting table. That would be a good start to organizing.

    Will try for this weekend.

    1) Have to press fabrics for Bonnie Hunter quilt.
    2) String blocks need to be worked on.
