Default Pin basting a new way.

I found this way of pin basting. I haven't pin basted in decades but with this new way it almost would be fun.
    What do you think?

I watched the video. It does look like it would make pin basting quicker. I probably would not invest in one though, I prefer glue basting now. Easier on the hands for me.

Definitely looks like it would make pin basting easier - especially the lining up the layers part.

I now spray or glue baste my quilts before putting on my Cutie Breeze. The layers stay completely in place and I don't need very much extra fabric hang over at the sides, top, and bottom. Takes a little time but saves a lot of scrap batting and backing fabric. The LA I use sometime wants at least 8 inches of batting and backing around. Something to do with using the Sew Tite leaders. Convenient for her but costly to me. Pin basting would be my choice if I was hand quilting.

I watched the video and it appears NOT to be any faster than using pool noodles and spray basting. Just something else to spends your dollars on that will be tossed aside after using a few times.

I agree. Either pool noodles or lengths of 1x2 or furring strips or leftover trim moulding works for me for pin basting.

Seems unnecessary to me. I lay everything down and drizzle Elmer's washable school glue and smooth out in sections. It is very easy for me - no thinning of glue, no foam brushes, etc. takes me about 20-30 minutes to do a quilt. I have done on up to queen size.

This looks like something that someone came up with to say it is the greatest/latest you got to buy this to be able to pin your quilt quicker and for the 'inventor/seller to rake in the money on. Really 119.00 for the 72" -- $144.00 for the 96" --- and 169.00 for the 120",

All the bar does really is just make a center on the table, something you can do with tape and putting a weight - think heavy pin cushion or the like on your quilt.

For someone that does pin basting the bar would be worth the investment. Keeping the layers up off the table is a big help when pinning. Would be a good gift to give a pin baster to try. Something she probably wouldn't buy herself but her family could.

Interesting. I guess if someone was committed to pin basting, it might be nice to have. I did look at their web to see what the cost was; $119 for smallest, $169 for longest - and all 3 sizes are currently sold out.

My shoulders do not allow for quilting at this point, unless very small projects. There are several good LA's locally, and I am happy to quilt by check.
