    Default Red fabric bleed

Is there a manufacturer that has red fab that does not bleed? I've gone thru 3 fabric catchers with two fabric cuts and still bleeding. Hate to throw it out. I know I can't donate it. Red is a focal point in several of my quilts. Hope someone knows of red fab that is safe.

I've never had Robert Kauffman red prints or Kona reds bleed at all. Really can't think of the last red I bought that bled. Washing a color catcher with all red fabric, it will always come out pinkish.

I only ever had a bad problem once and that was with a red that never stopped bleeding, but I've found heat treatment the best last chance and have been able to stabilize many fabrics. Always deal with wet fabric, I do just a tiny bit of regular blue Dawn dish detergent and swish in the sink, rinse well. Then you can either microwave in a large safe (pyrex) bowl, cover with plastic wrap for up to 30 minutes, depending on how much water/big a piece of fabric. Or, you can try boiling on top of the stove for twice as long, adding vinegar shouldn't hurt but its really the heat that is working. Warning: I used a non-food aluminum canning pot when I was doing a lot of dying/stabilizing stuff and residues built up! Do not use food dishes for non-food things.

You might want to consider using "Retayne" to set/stabilize the colour.

If a fabric bleeds in the second wash then I stop wasting my time and money on it .
    Better to find another red.

I used Retayne when I had some bright teal flannel that I wanted to back a quilt with. It worked really well.
