Hello and welcome to the October virtual quilting weekend. My sewing room is sufficiently set up so I will actually be able to quilt with you this weekend. I will mix quilting and organizing over the four days. 🙂
Next month VQW will be November 7-9.

Oh yay! Sounds like a good plan… I have started stitching down my pumpkinpatchbc.com last block..so will try to finish that! I am also about 3/4 around a hand stitched binding, so hopefully I will get that completed. Will see how I do, and then update if I manage to get that far. Thanks for hosting again….it is our Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, but no plans .

I haven't participated yet but since my weekend plans include time in my quilting room, here goes. I have a retreat the following weekend so need to prep for that but hope to spend some good time in front of my machine as well. Giving thanks this weekend that I'm able to snuggle in at home and be with my fabric. The weather has been glorious and even though the forecast is for more lovely fall beauty I'm almost wishing for rain as it makes my sewing room cosy.

I'm not sure what I'm going to actually get done as life is very busy but I have a few tasks I'm hoping to make some progress on this weekend so I'll jump in to see if this helps me stay on target! If I can check off even one of these I'll consider it a big win!
1) finish binding my "brights" quilt
2) continue tidying up the fabric from my last three or four projects and get everything back where it belongs
3) come up with a labelling system (tied to #2) to help me remember how I want to organize things going forward :-)
4) sketch out some layout ideas for a scrap quilt I'm part way through - I've been working on sub units and now I think I have enough to go to the next step

Thanks so much for hosting, Heather, and glad to hear you can participate too. Two years later after my move and no art has been placed, some things still hiding, but I have a pretty functional sewing studio!
I am still working on my current Dragon Hoard top. I have small panel dragon blocks trimmed and framed and alternating with crazy quilt blocks. It is starting to come together pretty fast, I have lots of little bits of quick pieced crazy blocks but I need to make those into 13.5".
I cut a piece of paper 14" square and use that to help determine the size of my blocks, I can layout the pieces and see where I need to trim/stretch out the blocks.
I will be going to a quilt guild retreat the weekend of November 8, I want to be able to put together the top then. Any progress I make this VQW will help to make that happen!

I'll be quilting this weekend too. Yesterday I found backing in my stash for the latest quilt which made me do a small happy dance, so then I went ahead and marked my quilt for quilting lines. Just a simple design, but 3/4 way through I realized it was crooked and had to go back and mark lines again. Thankfully I used two different colors of Crayola Washables and praying that I won't get confused and have to rip out stitches. Keep your fingers crossed for me please!

I'm in as much as I can be. I have other things going on. I have an orchestral concert coming up and need to practice for that. If I do get the chance to sew, I will be piecing together backing for my potato chip quilt. Once that is done, then comes the fun part of basting the sandwich. I am still not quite sure how I want to quilt it yet. I may just do a meander.

Thanks for hosting again. It’s always nice to quilt with friends. I have on top sandwiched and ready to quilt for my guilds Finish It club. I haven’t decided how I want to quilt it yet so that will be first up. And another that is top, backing and binding in a pile. There is a x stitch in the works for my son if I feel the pull towards handwork.

It sounds like everyone's social calendars are filling up rapidly and the holiday madness is beginning. I'm convinced that time just evaporates after Labor Day to New Year's!
My plan will be 1) to sew and attach binding to a large quilt, 2) finish repair on an antique quilt, 3) continue to hand-stitch another friend's quilt that her mother started. This last project was given to me 60-65% done hand quilting so in a fit of temporary insanity I decided it would be best to finish it that way. I've also got a small angel wall hanging to load and quilt on the longarm but that's stretches things. Happy sewing everyone!
