Default Has anyone used Hobb's wool batting?

It came out of the package so wrinkled that I'm afraid that the wrinkles will show through the quilt top. They are not just wrinkles; the fibers on one side of the batting seem to have stretched so that even when I smooth it out, one side has extra (if that even makes sense). I tried fluffing it in the dryer on air fluff to no avail. I tried ironing it on the wool setting, but that didn't work at all. Does anyone have suggestions? I bought the wool to make an extra special quilt for my stepdaughter, but I'm just about ready to use my roll of 80/20. Thanks

You may have gotten a bad batch cut. A couple of years ago Hobbs replaced a batting for me that was a mess right out of the package.

I use Hobbs Tuscany Wool for most of my quilts. So far no problems with wrinkles or the batting bunching up in areas. I do agree with Onebyone, you just might have gotten a bad batch.

I bought a whole bolt of Hobbs batting, I think it was 80/20 or 70/30 whatever it comes and I'll never buy it again ever. I had thin spots, lots of wrinkles, very rough compared to Quilter's Dream or even W&N. I think I have 2 more large pieces to use up on some king size quilts and only because I have it and it was expensive so I'm not just going to throw it away though I'd like to. Again, never will I buy Hobbs ever. I thought maybe I just got a bad piece but the entire bolt being this way?

Since I bought the batting through Amazon, I was just going to return it. Then I saw the "product support" button, which gave me the Hobb's phone number. Of course, the quality control person was out today, but I am emailing her photos to see if she has a solution. If not, I will just return it and start over. So much for wanting to get it done this week.

I've used their Tuscany wool for several quilts, it's my favorite batting. Have never had any problems with it. Fingers crossed that they will replace it.

I spoke to quality control at Hobb's today, and they were wonderful. They checked the date on my packaging and stated that the batting was close to a year old, and that possibly that was why it was so ridged and wrinkled. They do not sell to Amazon; a third party vendor sent the package through Amazon, which I can confirm. They offered to send me forms to fill out to get a new piece, but it sounds easier to just return it to Amazon. I will then order from Linda's Electric Quilters, where I have gotten Hobb's Tuscany Wool before. This was Hobb's Heirloom Premium Wool. Lesson learned. I have only good things to say about Hobb's customer service.

It's nice that you can return the product, but is it normal for batting to go bad after only a year in the package? I've never heard of that happening, and would be very upset if it did.

FYI: Always click on seller to know if it is the actual company or third party. Many top quit companies sell on Amazon but many more are third party sellers. A lot of third party sellers buy returns, auction, overstocks, etc. and you have no idea the condition/age/damage/imitation of the product. Read the seller info carefully. I have called cs of some companies and found out that no they do not sell on Amazon even though the title of the seller indicates it is the company. Always check the seller's info.
