Hello I am relatively new at quilting and I love it.
So far most of my quilting is by hand, I piece by machine and hand quilt. Though I am learning now doing some machine quilting, but very simple.

I recently got a quilting frame stand and I like it, but I have trouble doing a knot when I am finish with the thread. I till over the frame, is light, get underneath and do the knot. This is a foolish way of doing it, but I don't know how else to go about it. I am sure the old quilters that used those large wooden framed did not get underneath to tight a knot.

Does anyone know how to go about this?

Thanks for any help you can give me and I am happy to join the Quilting Board.

Hello, and welcome from Missouri! There is a quilters' knot that you use and pop the thread between the layers both beginning and ending your thread. I think it is in the tutorials someplace. Just search for "quilters' knot".

    Hello and Welcome :D:D:D
When you make your knot, put your needle back through all of the layers and tug until you feel it pop through the top and into the batting. Pull on the thread snugly and clip close to the fabric. The thread tail should suck back in and disappear.
