I have plenty of fabric leftover from my borders, but the borders were cut the length of the fabric. There's only about 15 inches left in the width. Is it okay to cut my binding from the length of the fabric, or is that not something I'd want to do?

That shouldn't be a problem. If you were doing scallops and needed it on the bias, that would be a problem.

Thanks guys! I have yet to do anything that needs the binding cut on the bias, so I haven't fooled with that yet. I'm not really looking forward to it. Seems like it will be difficult.

I use this bias ruler. Makes cutting bias hassle free and no thinking.

It will be fine to do that.

I'm glad she asked this question. Do you usually cut binding from selvage to selvage or length.

I usually cut mine across (the 42-45" length) the fabric and piece, but there is no reason why the long cut wouldn't work. You will have fewer seams and assuming you plan to do continuous binding, just make sure your seams won't land on a corner.
