Has anyone ever seen a tutorial or blog that will teach you to mark your own wholecloth quilt. I would like to make a small one but would really like to see how somebody else does it before I give it a try.

I have done a couple of small ones, they are so much fun to do.
the Stencil Co sells stencils for small or large whole cloths, and also the already marked ones, and they aren't too expensive.

Here is a picture of the 2 I have done, and also of a stencil for a small whole cloth. the stencil is a 161/2 in square.

Please share how to make your own stencils--I would love to do that! Maybe you would want to post a tutorial on it?

I haven't bought the plastic for a while, but there's a plastic you buy in pkgs that you can use to make stencils with. I purchased a stencil burner. You can get both at the fabric store.

All you do is trace your pattern onto the plastic (It's see-through) and then very carefully follow the markings I've made with the burner (It's better to burn on something that you don't care about or a piece of wood) and there you go!!!

Hope this helps!! :-D

You can also buy a double bladed cutter, that cuts out the edge all in one swipe. I like using it. the Stencil co also sells those. and the plastic is available at any LQS It is called stencil plastic.

I will definitely have to give this a try! It seems that when I need a stencil to mark my quilting lines, I want it NOW and I don't want to go shopping to find one--it would take too much time.
Thank you so much!
