Ok. So what's the difference between kaleidescope, stack 'n whack, and OBW? They seem pretty similar from what I can tell.

Good question, I have often thought the same thing. Can't wait to see the answers. Sorry I don't know.

    OBW-you use only one fabric.
Stack N Whack-you use two fabrics
Kaleidescope-you make your own fabric ( I think)

Hope this helps. Of the three above I like Stack N Whack the most.

From what I understand, kaleidoscope and stack and whack are interchangable. The only difference from the OBW is that the OBW is a quilt done entirely in one fabric. The stack and whack the "squares" are made with one fabric, but you usually set them in a background fabric. At least I did. However, the squares come out the same as OBW, so I suppose you could make a stack and whack entirely out of one fabric too....hmmm.
I think they are all the same techniques with different names.

Thanks for the question, I have wondered that also. I have a OBW cut out and a few blocks sewn together but keep putting it down for other projects.

I too have always wondered the same thing.
Thank you for asking. Now all of us newer quilters will know.

I think of a kaleidescope quilts more like Paula Nadlestern makes. Each piece is cut out individually. I have taken several of her classes they are wonderful. It takes a lot of time. But I am anxious to try stack and whack and OBW.

But love Paula's process. See the attached web sit.
