I happened to luck into finding a lovely polished cotton carousel horse panel, with matching polished cotton print fabric at the thrift store. I'd like to use this to make a wall hanging or throw size quilt for my friend who collects carousel horses, for her 50th anniversery coming up this fall.
My question is, is it ok to mix other kinds of fabric to make squares for this project, or do I need to use only polished cotton for the whole thing?

I think you should be fine mixing as long as you prewash everything. If memory serves me right, polished cotton has a bit of a sheen to it. You can work this into the design.

I don't know that much or should I say, not an expert, but I think using any mix of fabrics would be fine (cotton) but I wonder if using all polished fabrics would make it SHINE ! :)

Polished cotton is still cotton. If you wash it you might lose the finish. If it's just going into a wall hanging there's no real reason to wash it.

Some polished cottons lose their finish and some don't. You can test a piece and then decide if you want to use it in something that'll be washed.

All the polished cottons I have tried to use lost their shine when washed. If it's a wallhanging, I think it would look better with all shiny fabrics.

I agree with Madquilter, using other fabrics will be fine, but pre-wash. Would love to see the fabrics and the finished items!
