Rumor has it you must go to Mary Jo's in Gastonia just west of Charlotte.

Yep, Mary Jo's is pretty good. They do have a lot of home dec and bridal though. Not all cottons, but it is a large store so have fun!

Go to Mary Jo's Fabric if you get the time. Tons of fabric.
Mary Jo's is located at the Cox Rd exit on I-85 heading south. There are other shops in the area check the phone book. Check sewing machine shops some do have fabric.
The Billy Graham Museum is nice, also free admission. The NASCAR Museum is new have not been there.

I live just below Charlotte in Ft Mill. It takes me exacyly 22 minutes to get to Mary Jo's. There is also Long Creek Mills near there that has great thread I've heard. There's also a vintage sewing machine museum in that area somewhere that i can try to get info on if you'd like. if you want to meet up just let me know!

Oh you must go, definitely go, do not stop anywhere else first. Twenty two stoplights away from there is a place called long street mills on webb st in gastonia. Bulk sewing and embroidery thread with a sprinkling of craft supplies.
