I want to buy a small, light weight, fairly inexpensive sewing machine to take with us in our small motor home when we travel. I don't think I want a Singer Featherweight, but would love to have some recommendations from others who have them to take to quilting classes, etc. Thanks for any suggestions.

Brother CE4000 is what I normally take. Bought it "like new" off Craigslist for only $60. It's lightweight and relatively small but will do a lot of different stitches. Janome makes some lightweight machines that are really good. The Magnolia comes to mind. You might even check with a local dealer to see if they have any trade-ins or demo models of some of the smaller machines. You can usually get those for a very reasonable price and they'll usually have a limited warrenty.

Check out the Janome Gem machines...very reasonable and weigh less than 12 lbs.

Sears has great portable machines and usually where ever you travel, there will be a Sears store that has basic parts for it or can order them for you.

I believe that is the machine that some of the Sears Outlet stores have for $59.99.
