I want to attempt spray basting a wall quilt. How do you do it without getting it all over the place?

My livingroom floor. I keep the spray can close to the quilt. Then mop the floor when I done.

I spread out cardboard on my garage floor or on my basement floor.

I put two of those plastic craft tables together and have a garden shed that I do spray baste in.

I have a big empty wall. I tape my backing tight on the wall, and cover the borders around with brown paper or newspapers. I also cover the floor with newspapers. I spray baste over the backing, add the batting and spray again to add the top. I then pin, just in case. I find that since I am not working on my knees, I tend to add more pins and my quilt stays tight better and I get no bunching in the back.

I have a full size sheet that I keep just for that purpose. I always fold the sticky side in when I'm done with it. A little hard to unfold it the next time but sure saves making a mess.

I am lucky that DH is a pastor and we live really really close to the church and we have keys so we go over to the church, push a couple of tables together and do it there!

When I have to do a small quilt at home I put a few old sheets around the edges to catch the over spray.
