I'm from Hawaii and we love our Aloha Shirts...but those prints can be pretty wild sometimes. Most of the shirts that the local guys wear are made from material that is sewn wrong side up. gives it a nice muted look. :D

I am using the backside of a white tone on tone right now in a little mini that I am handpiecing.

Also, I have often used the back as well as the front of a given fabric, if I like the effect of the (usually) duller backside, or if I need some kind of contrast that I don't have in some other fabric.

Incidentally, Kaffe Fassett said on an episode of Simply Quilts (so how long ago does That make it!) that he also does that whenever he wants to.

Go for it! I've heard of quilters using the back side of materials before. SO JUST DO IT!

I've done the same thing just making a dress for my grrandaughters.Now days it's fashionable( is that a word)to use the wrong side instead of the right.Go for it.

Nah, I have used the back side of fabric when I like it better. Sometimes the back if prettier than the front. It is still the same fabric, so use it however you want to. No one will know but you and it's your quilt, quilt as you want to.
