Handel's Messiah.
Edited to say great minds think alike. (jk'g) Posting at the same time.
and to add a secular one, I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas by good old Bing Crosby.

This is absolutely my favorite newer song. I like the version on a Gaither album that was done by the two fellows that wrote it. There is a harmonica part that is just haunting.

I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day.

I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old familiar carols play
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of peace on earth good will toward me

And in despair I bowed my head
There is no peace on earth I said
For hate is strong and mocks the song
Of peace on earth good will toward men.

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep
God is not dead, nor doth He sleep
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail
With peace on earth good will toward men.

I guess that just about says it all, doesn't it. Merry Christmas to all, pray for our soldiers and God Bless America! Edie

I just love Christmas music, especially the old English carols. Am looking for a CD that has The Holly and the Ivey, Here We Come a Wassailing, Bring the Torch Jeanette Isabella, etc. I had a tape decades ago done by the Robert Shaw Chorale with those titles on it but alas it has gone the way of all well worn tapes.

My very favorite song at Christmas! Donny Osmond's version.
Where have I been? I've never heard these two!

My Mother also loved The Little Drummer Boy. The first Christmas after she died, I was in a store shopping and it came on and I just stood there and cried like a baby. Funny how some things trigger emotions so strongly.
