had the flu twice, never want to go through that again. Laid up for 3 weeks. Now I always get the shot. Haven't been sick since.

Not me, never again. In 1999 I that blasted flu shot, and lost darn near the whole month of February. Spent it in bed, coughing and shivering and gasping for breath.

And in Bakersfield my sister got one at a small drug store, next day her arm was badly swollen and her doctor said the drug store must have used a dirty needle!!! They either did not get the same amount of needles and meds and so might have stuck them in alcohol and declared them sterile, or...
Anyway, sister now should take blood tests for a long time, just in case. Don't know what the health department did about it, I'll have to ask.

DH and I are almost religious about our flu shot every year. Since 1987 for me. He was sick the next year with the flu and missed four weeks of work. He gets a shot every year now. We've escaped so much misery.

I think it very rude for people to go out in public when they have the bug. STAY HOME WHEN YOU ARE SICK!

I haven't had a flu shot in 27 years. Every year before that I had one, yep, I was sick for minimun of two weeks. I work in a school, and am exposed to all kinds of germs daily. Must have a pretty good immune system!

I'll never get a flu shot. A fellow I worked with got one in October 2009. He ended up with Guillain-Barre Syndrome and has just within the last month been able to begin to walk again, more than a year later. Although Guillain-Barre is a rare side effect from the flu vaccine (rate of 1 per million), I will not take that risk. Check out Guillain-Bare on Wikipedia if curious.
