BOM Reservations fees.
#1
Hi, I am just curious of there is anyone who bypasses on BOM's because of the reservation fees? If I see a BOM that I like I will scan various sites to see who has it and what they are charging. If I see they have a non-refundable fee, I skip over it and on to the next site. I have also noticed that those sites that have the fees are usually the ones who charge more each month. I understand having to cut fabric to make the kits and package them all up. But I just cannot bring myself to pay those fees.

I find BOM's too expensive especially here in Australia.
One of the menbers here listed a website with free BOM's so I will give that a go.

If I pay a price for the BOM I assume the cutting is included on the price. I would never pay a reservation fee. I understand that sometimes they have someone who signs up and doesn't pick it up, but that is part of running a business. You don't make your loyal customers pay for the mistakes of others.

I truly enjoy the free links, and have found some more. However, at times I like getting the kits. Where they have already included the fabric with the pattern. I do not keep to big of a stash on hand, yet. hehe

Our LQS here doesn't charge a reservation fee. I won't do one that has a reservation fee. In fact, The Log Cabin near Tulsa even includes the pattern and finishing kit (except for batting and backing) in their price and they average it out. Most of them are $15-24/month, depending on size, etc.
