This advent calendar kit was on sale after Christmas last year for next to nothing. I'm hoping you can even see the echo quilting (stitching a tiny bit outside the edge of a design). But now I can quilt by:
1. Stitch Near a Ditch
2. Cross Hatch
3. Check (written to a LA quilter)
4. Echo - if the project is small enough and the design large enough)

That's progress!

If I aim IN a ditch I set myself up for despair. But NEAR a ditch? I'm good with that! Even better - I use a scallop stitch so weave back and forth near and around that ditch. Works for me!

Problem: My barely 4-year-old grandson is visiting and saw this hanging in my sewing room. He gave me all kinds of information about Christmas and Santa and going to sleep so Santa can come and presents and ... welll, you get the idea. HOWEVER, he is now convinced that Christmas is SOON. I even got my calendar down - it has pictures of him and his cousin taken all last year. We turned pages and talked about what happens each month and how many pages we had to turn until December. Sang a song about the months of the year. THought we had it all covered until his dad came over to get him after work and was told it's Christmas! Sigh.
