I had a holiday of a lifetime in NZ and saved all my tickets. I have now printed them on fabric, and have put a border on each one.

I have bought a second material with which to join all the tickets together. My problem is - how do I manage to join all these odd sized rectangles together?

Any help would be much appreciated

this is where a design wall really comes in handy---when i create a quilt containing odd sized/shaped blocks i lay them all out---and move them around- leaving gaps here & there where necessary- then start filling in those gaps with either additional pieced blocks or strips of fabric. it is fun to move them around and find the perfect layout-
you could fill in with pictures from your trip- or just fabrics that either blend or contrast- black really makes things (pop) in a quilt- but start with laying them out and see just what you need to (fill in)
be sure and show us pictures when you get it together- we love looking :)

Many thanks for your help. I wish I had a room dedicated to patchwork! I shall now try moving things around and see what pops up. Photos will come, but I think it may be quite a while before I get that far. Actually my favourite parts of quilting are the designing and the binding. I could quite easily lose the pleasure of the actual sewing. Although I suppose I ought not to admit that!

If you don’t have a design wall you could still add sashing around the blocks to make them all the same size. Someone (don’t remember who) made a good suggestion saying to lay out the blocks on the floor and take a photo of them. The picture will show things that you may not see otherwise and then you could re-arrange the blocks to suit you. This will be a wonderful memory quilt. Looking forward to seeing pictures. :-D

I am trying to make all the blocks the same size - not easy!!! I have just ordered more border material in the hope I will have enough. I think taking a photo might well help. Someone also suggested I appliqued relevant motifs in the larger spaces. Not sure about that as applique is not one of my things. However, time will tell. Thanks for your suggestions and I love the quote under your message.

Thanks for that - it gave me an idea. I have two pieces of material which I can cut and applique. This will brighten the quilt and tie all the tickets together very well. So glad I asked for advice!
