I'm having new floors put in the house this week and decided to get new furniture to go with the new floors. I think I want the dining room table that is bar stool height with the tall chairs. I want it to seat at least 8. Does anyone here have this height of table and how do you like it? Also how about the double sized easy chair with big ottoman? If you have one, is it a favorite chair?

Only can tell you that my mil and fil have the double size chair that are ottomans and they LOVE it!
As far as bar height dining room table-does anyone who might ever come to dinner have arthritis or back or leg problems? They might find it hard to sit at the higher table.
Good luck and let us know what you decide to buy. Remember buy what you want!

my DD has the chairs that fit to the bar, and I have a hard time getting up on it with my arthritis. I have also been to other peoples homes that have them and the same thing there. I have a hard time. would rather stand than try that again.

Thanks for the info about the table. We have no family members that have a problem sitting up to a real bar so I'm not even considering that complaint from them. LOL.

I have a sever back problem and find they are wonderful as I can simple slide my behind onto the seat and bring my legs up to the foot bar. Getting out of a dining room chair is harder on my back.

With the highr tables you need to place your feet on the rungs of the chairs, it tends to scuff and mar them fast. My neighbor has a set and they are uncomfortable after a bit and I dont have any back problems.
We had one of the over sized chairs w/ottoman and although it was comfortable we were limited where we could place it.

I'm short (5'2") and I can manage to get up in the chair, but usually my legs will not reach the footrest. So they dangle, uncomfortably, the entire time.

My sister has higher table/chairs - they're a pain to scoot up closer to table when you can't reach the floor. Glad I don't have small children for when we do go visit/eat.

Personally I think sitting at a bar stool height table would be very uncomfortable after a few minutes, so I would say find what you think you want and sit on the stool and at the table for 10-20 minutes and see if you still want it.

Ditto on the Rungs...I have a high Center Island in my kitchen with 2 swivel wooden bar stool. The rungs are constantly used by people to lift themselves up or just put their feet on...I've had to repair, reglue and rescrew them in several times...
