Default Pink

Over the weekend, I happened to notice an ad on Craigslist for a pink sewing machine. So, of course, I had to go see it. It was in a cabinet, which I declined, because I am out of room. Anyhow, it is a 1971 Kenmore with a complete set of cams. The only disadvantage is that it requires high shank feet, and it only came with 3. Still, it is a heavy, all metal machine and it works great. I didn't even need to adjust the tension. It was very clean, aside from dust and lint.

My sister was surprised that I bought a Kenmore, since I have mostly Singers, but I assured her that the older Kenmores are great, reliable workhorses.

There seem to be a lot of old machines in colors- turquoise, pink, etc. Very nice Kenmore.

I had one very similar to this, but it was golden yellow and a couple of years older than yours. The attachments for them are plentiful and cheap on "that auction site."

I love my Kenmores!

I love your new pink SM! I have mostly Singers plus a bunch of Japanese clones but recently I bought a green Kenmore for $10.00 and it's the nicest little machine (although it weighs 1,000 lbs). It has an older cord so I'm thinking of replacing it but boy does it sew smoothly!!

I'm pretty sure that the reason that it was sold for only ten dollars is because the needle was in backwards and a thread was stuck in the bobbin area!

There is a Yahoo group for owners of Kenmore sewing machines. They have lots of information in their file area: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vintag...guid=236813242
