Default fast tip for machine applique

Every once in a while I do some machine applique pieces using a narrow zigzag. Some of the pieces are small and there are a lot. In order to avoid having to change thread colors for all these small pieces I use a neutral thread color and a fabric pen that closely matches the dominant fabric color. I simply color over the zigzag and heat set with my iron. The thread disappears!

Such a clever tip. I have used a permanent marker when my SITD got messy. It hides a multitude of sins. Thanks.

I've done the same. I learned the hard way to be careful because the thread can act as a wick and carry the dye to the other side. This won't matter if the backing is a busy print.
