Default King Tut thread-finally a cotton I can FMQ with

I have been trying my hand this year at FMQ so I thought I would try my hand at whatever I could get my hands on and found most to be very linty and shred alot, and some of these were major brands, I have sulky, aurifil, YLI, and gutterman and wasn't having any luck, liked gutterman the most out of all of these which is no shock since its all I piece with. Bought some king tut the other day because it was one of the major brands I haven't tried of cotton thread, and I am in love, way less lint, and no breakage the way the others did. I was really enjoying FMQ with poly because it is so much less of a hassle, so I am glad I can now add a cotton to the list. Just thought I would share for those looking for a good cotton to FMQ with

I've recently had a real nightmare with yli! I spent 4 hours sewing with it (and cursing at it!), then 12 hours ripping it out (I'd done about half of the background of my tardis quilt) because the skipped stitches were just horrible and it was breaking after about 30 seconds sewing! I had a quick try with gutterman and it worked like a dream! It took me one hour to quilt the entire background with the gutterman!
King tut is usually my go to thread for quilting (hand or machine) because my local fabric shop sells it (and not many other brands) but I was in a different shop and spotted the yli and thought it was worth a try. I couldn't have been more wrong! I love the selection of variegated threads they do!

I agree King Tut is by far the best, for free motion so strong and low lint. But here in England I've found only a few places that sell it in cone form and its very pricy. But you get what u pay for!

I like King Tut also -- it is pricey but well worth it. I would rather buy the cones as I hate the thought of running out if I under estimate how much thread it will take to do a quilt. You just have to remember to use the top stitch needle recommended for the thread.

I've never tried King Tut. Where's a good inexpensive place to buy it online? I need a certain color that I don't have. (Legitimate need to buy thread! Woohoo!)

I buy mine at sewthankful.com. Fairly priced in comparison.

*not affiliated, just satisfied.
