I have a Bernina and I take it in once a year for servicing. Don't Janome need to be service like a car or anything else that has a motor??

Paying to have a technician service an expensive machine is money well spent. Take it for a cleaning and tune-up.

I have a 6500 Janome (8/9 yrs old). I take it in every year to year and half (depending upon usage). Most of the time it is just a GOOD cleaning. But one time, it was making strange noises, it needed a belt replaces.
PS - I have oiled my machine.

most likely your moter belt, you need to get it checked. call your local repair shop and see if they will advise you. may save you a bit of money

they say that they need serviced once a year. I did take mine in this year it is 5 years old and gave her the spa treatment. But I do wish they would let you watch to see what they REALLY do or do not do when they do this 80 dollar spa treatment that the dealers believe need to be done once a year. If only I could be a fly on the wall

on the janome forums, they say to put a drop of oil on the little wick under the bobbin case. I do and it makes a lot of difference. It's amazing what you learn on these forums. BTW, these were dealers telling people to do this.

I have a TOL Bernina and feel that taking it in to have a cleaning and update it well worth the price! You might be surprised at how well your machine functions after a spa treatment!

ask the if they will take the back off while you are there. A Janome tech asked me to stay a minute he wanted to show me something, probably because I was whining about having so far to bring it.
This was my 9000 but its all the same thing, it looked like like a 1/4" piece of felt had been laid in there...and I get my machine done every year. A good machine is worth the upkeep...

hope your fix is easy and quick.
