I ask this question before but I have not seen an answer. I live in the Detroit area and would like to have a longarm quilter. Since the price of a new one is out of the question, are there used ones around? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :-)

I'm not in Detroit, but I know that here in Colorado, I see them occasionally on Craigslist. You might poke around on your Craigslist board and see what you can find.

I would check out the different models' websites. I follow the forum at APQS.com daily and see machines for sale quite frequently.

Put "used longarm quilting machine" in your favorite search engine. You'll get all kinds of hits.

sometimes shops that sell machines also have a long arm machine and "rent" time on them. perhaps you could do that. they let you learn and then quilt your own.

The homequiltingsystems list on Yahoo! keeps a file of longarm machines for sale. You might want to join that group.

Check with the manufacturer's of the machine you want (hopefully you are doing research - this is like buying a car!) Sometimes they have trade-ins.

Also check out Ebay "long arm quilting machines" there are Tin Lizzy & ABM at good prices. Some are brand new, come with tables and frames. Just keep looking.
