First free-arm Sewing Machine
A real rarity: a member of our quilt group found this sewing machine on a flee-market: the first free-arm sewing machine manufactured between 1948 and 1952 in Germany!

This machine can be folded so that you have a little case to transport it!
If you are interested here is a little video about this machine: it's a program over here in TV where people can show their old treasuries to get information whether they are are worth or not...
The name of this machine: "FREIA" is the shortening of "FREIArm Nähmaschine"!

The value given in this video is 400 - 500 Euro means 450 to 550 Dollar: it is because the machine in the video is in excellent condition!

Actually, it is not becaue it is too old, it is because it has a Euro plug. that also means that the motor is most likely NOT set up for US current/voltage.
PLEASE do not "replace the plug" and try it.. that would not go over well at all....
And The name is NOT a shortened form of Free arm....
Stemming from Old Norse Freyja, modern forms of the name include Freya, Freija, Frejya, Freyia, Fröja, Frøya, Frøjya, Freia, Freja, Frua and Freiya.

The OP is from Germany. Still it wouldn't hurt to make sure the voltages haven't changed radically over the years before they plug it in. I'm not sure how things are in Germany but I know electrical supplies varied widely from region to region in the USA up until around the 1950s.
