Advise on a Elna Supermatic
Hubby found an Elna Supermatic for $45 at a flea market, but it had no cams. Does this machine have any built in cams, or will it only straight stitch without the cams? The machine was clean and had the case also. Hubby passed on it because he wasn't familiar with it and wasn't sure I would want it (huh??).
i would love your thoughts on this machine: pass or go back to see if it is still available?

Cams are required. It looks good. $45 is probably about right. I tried selling on the popular auction site a complete, clean, all cams, case for $69 without success. It is a nice machine, but make sure the knee lever is present and when operating it sounds smooth. If it sounds and vibrates like a helicopter it needs the drive pressure roller replaced or ground smooth. I'd pass in either of those scenarios. Levers are expensive and roller replacement can be a hassle for the non-mechanical.
Edit-cams are available on Internet and are numerous. One can buy just the ZZ or what is desired without getting the duck, rose, Christmas tree, etc. I had trouble making the rose and duck look like a rose or a duck anyway.
