Default Simple square in a square - quilting suggestions?

This is a simple two colour square in a square that my DIL requested to use as a throw for their charcoal gray couch.

Any suggestions as to how to quilt it? I have 'ditched' all the large squares.

Thanks in advance!

a motif in the smaller square so your quilting will show.

I'll 3rd that ... however, that is somewhat contingent on the size of that central square?

What size is that centre square?
And the overall block size?

I like it the way it is - but does your batting require more quilting?

My quilting skills are minimal. I think the pattern looks modern I would do simple straight lines, one color horizontal the other vertical.
