Calculating Stash Fabric
I could swear I once saw a post on how to calculate how much fabric one has. In it was a rough estimate of how many yards would fit in a square foot. Based on that, you multiply your square feet of storage and viola!
Of course, now that I have been asked how much I have, I can't find it. Does anyone remember seeing this?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Everyone's w/could be different ...
depends on how tight you have it packed,
how much air space you have around it, and
how heavy/lightweight the fabric is.
If it is something you realllllllllly want to know .......
then my suggestion would be to measure some of your stash.
Let's say you had a total of 17.8 metres that weighed in at 15 lbs.
(Note: have no idea how realistic that weight would be for the amount of fabric.)
Then weigh all your containers .... but be sure to deduct the weight of all the bins.
You could then do the math, and have somewhat of an estimate.
But do you really want to know?

I don't really want to know, although it's "nothing" compared to some of yours.
It'd be fun to find out what people estimate their stash to be in yards
and then try to get a close measurement.
I'd have to give thought to mine. Off the top of my head, I'd estimate 200 yds.

I don't want to know I know mine is "small" compared to some photos of stashes I've seen that look like a mini store, but what I have works for me. Like zozee, I might have about 100-150 yards. It's mainly scraps so it's hard to know.

Since I have large yardage pieces I have a lot more than I will ever live to use. Plus I have tons of rements. I have made about 25 or 30 kids (45x60") size quilt from my Daughters scraps and not used up all of it yet.
