PDF’s deleated
I download my patterns in PDF form to iBooks on my iPad. The last update by Apple deleted them all to clear up space. I am not short on space. They never asked or notified, just deleted. They can only only be retrieved from the source of purchase. I don’t remember most of them.
If you do this and haven’t gotten the upgrade, send them to your computer.

I'm so sorry. I didn't use my Win10 computer for a long while maybe 2-3 months. Some kind of update deleted almost all my emb software and history. You could have learned some new words, had you been nearby!

I used to subscribe to magazines through Apple. I thought it was a good idea -easy storage. After a move to a new iPad most of them were gone. Apple doesn’t help -they refer you to the magazine companies. It’s a black hole.
Now I order directly through the magazine company.

You just reminded to send all my PDF files to my computer. I had this happen once when I upgraded to a newer iPad. Everything but the PDF files copied over without problem, but I lost literally hundreds of files, mostly knitting patterns. Evidently there was some check box i didn't have checked in iBooks. Now I try to remember to send them in batches every month or so. I hate that Apple can't or won't make this clear when you update.

Sunny580 - you got me a little nervous since Apple just had an OS upgrade this week. So I went to my iBooks and all PDFs thst I had saved are there. Just a curious question for you - at the top of the pagewith a drop down arrow. If you click on thst arrow the name “PDF” will come up - click in that and all your pdf files should be there. I’ve been an Apple-addict for about 10 years and I’ve never lost any files from an update. But I’ve lost stuff on my pc when it crashed - twice - so I backup on an external drive. Hopefully this might help as I’m hoping you haven’t lost any files. I’d throw a hissy fit if thst happened to me.

greencat - I wondered the same thing way back with my first iPad. Then I discovered DropBox. I have it linked with my PC so that everything I save to it on my iPad is transferred to my DropBox on my PC. All free. You need to download the app for the iPad and the same for your computer. When I remember to do it, I get to my pc and make sure everything has transferred - I get a little note to update in the pc. I wouldn’t store anything of ay personal nature as I’ve “heard” it’s not secure - I have lots and lots of books, Quult stuff, etc saved to mine. I really need to then transfer all my files from the PC DropBox over to my external hard drive - just never remember. hope this helps.

Open the PDF file you want to transfer. Touch the share icon at the top...it's a square with and arrow pointing up. Touch the icon for airdrop and the iPad should sense your computer. Touch the icon for your computer and it will be sent immediately.
If you need to send a file to a Windows computer, there is no way to do it that I know of other than emailing a file or using a third party app like Goodreader, but then the file has to bee in those apps, not iBooks.
