Oh no, not another invasive species. Wish I could hold out hope for eradication but it just doesn't work. They cut great swathes of ash trees to stop the emerald ash borer here but it made no impact.

I hope they don't find their way here.
We have many hawks this spring and summer they are preying on the small birds. I heard one taking a small birds babies and then her, not a thing I could do about it.

we always let our milkweed stay -- no matter where it has decided to grow so the monarch caterpillars can thrive. Today I saw another one newly "hatched" It was drying its wings. I think we have had a couple dozen on the milkweed over the summer.

But invasive insects or viruses are hard to stop. Think gypsy moth and brown tail moth. And we no longer have the stately elms. So sad

Mim, Thanks a bunch for keeping milkweed. It is actually a beautiful flower and lovely scent in addition to feeding butterflies.

I'm in western Pa, so I'm sure it'll make it's way here. Yuck. As if the stinkbugs that invaded us a few years back aren't enough pestilence.

interesting about the number of hawks you're seeing--we are too. We live in the country so have lots of birds and also small mammals that they prey on. We live near a lake and also have an eagle occasionally cruise by!

Let us all pray that a spray or power is developed that will stop them from destroying our food sources from farmers, our fruit trees, our beautiful flowers and our magnificent trees.
