My first string quilt
I posted about this in the Main section so won't repeat it all here. But this is my first attempt at a string quilt, supposedly carefree, relaxed, sewing -- which I didn't exactly find it to be! (The white at the top and bottom is a sheet beneath it).
But it was fun and I'm happy enough with the result. It was an experiment, both to use up scraps and because I'd never made a string quilt before, and consequently is far from perfect, especially the secondary pattern of squares and hourglasses. While I love scrappy quilts, I've discovered I'm more of a controlled scrappy type, so will probably plan ahead when making the next one. This one measures about 72x57.

Isn't it amazing how with every quilt you not only learn something new about quilting, but about yourself too? I think the quilt is terrific and you should be happy with your experiment. IMHO it was entirely successful :-)

Now there is one happy string quilt! I love the pops of blue spread throughout that keeps the eye moving across the whole thing. Well done! Good for you for experimenting. We never know till we try something new. Sometines we are surprised, and sometimes our hunch is confirmed.
