Unhappy Needle Bar Centering: White Rotary

I have an old White Rotary from somewhere between the 30's and 40's. She is solely a straight stitch machine and runs beautifully aside from one concerning bit (especially because she has being heavily used to make masks) that her needle bar seems to move. When I got this machine last October it's needle plate was fine, but now that I've been using the machine I can see that the metal hole is being chipped away. It mostly hits back and to the right, but has hit all around the hole and I have caught is hitting back and to the left... the severity seems to be going up though as my size 14 needles are getting blunted quickly the last couple days, going through 2 a day.
Anyway, I haven't been able to find out how to adjust this issue. I can find a fix on other machines, but they aren't close to this one and are always zigzag machines. The only thing I was able to find was some random person saying they had looked, and due to the cast iron body can't reach the affected area. I don't know... I hope there is a fix, but as of today I've switched to using a 12 needle, guess I could go to down to 11...
