When I purchased my Singer 66 Red Head the lever that lifted the pressure foot off and on the fabric worked.
I tried to clean it and it became very loose and then would not lift the sewing foot.
I have taken the insides off the left side of the machine to clean the head.
When I finish the cleaning and re-assemble I hope the foot goes up and down.
Do you know whan I did to dis-engage the thing?

I would head over to the Vintage Machine Section and ask Billy (Lostn51) He knows everything, and there are a whole lot of folks who can dismantle and rebuild their vintage machines- someone will know.

There's a screw at the top of the machine right over the presser foot. Try screwing it back in. You may have not screwed it down tight enough or forgot to put it back at all.
