I've got all my blocks sewn together, now I need to add borders, can I sew a 1 & 1/2" strip of fabric to to a 3 1/2" strip of fabric at one time or do I need to do each individualy? I've been wondering about this and hope someone can help.

I am not real sure I understand what you are asking,,Do you mean sewing the 2 border fabrics together before attaching to the quilt as opposed to sewing one fabric onto the quilt then sewing on the other fabric? If so then I think it would be okay to do so if you are mitering your corners or using a cornerstone. Does that make sense?

Yes, I want to sew the two fabrics together before attaching to the quilt, I think mitering would be easier that way. I haven't been working on a quilt for a wile and wasn't sure, thanks for your help.

Sure why not. If you are going to do mitered borders its easier if they are sewn together first.

the thing that I have learned in the last 3 years is that it is your quilt. You can do what you want with it. Not quilt police will come to your door and when you show your quilt to others, they will say - that's an interesting way to do that. It's a good thing - as Martha would say.

Whatever works for you! I'd pin the center seams together for insurance while mitering.

Teri...the wider the border, the bigger the quilt....Or do you mean the final borders????
If you refer to the final border..I usually make a double border (folding the strips in 4) this way the borders are stronger.....(if possible try making bias strips)....
    I hope it help ......Anyway..Good luck....:D
