    Hi
I'm new to quilting and this board. I'm looking for a free pattern for the rag quilt purse that is made with 6 big squares on the front and back. I have looked, googled and am not having much luck. I started one by scratch, but it looks awful! Need help with the sizing, pockets and size of squares. Anyone know of a tutorial with photos or step by step instructions(perhaps rag quilting purses for dummies :) lol ) thanks for the help, any will be greatly appreciated!

I will be visiting my daughters and Granddaughter in NY the end of this month and made each of them a purse.
They have zipper pockets in each purse. Made some with fish, salamanders, flowers. The hardest part was doing all the snipping.

    hi salisaquilter,
those are georgous! and exactly what I'm wanting to make! Do you put pockets on the inside? Is the bottom lined with anything to make them stand up? I'm so new at this and don't have a clue! How do you know how many squares for the sides and bottom? thanks for the help, I really appreciate it! Oh one more, do you use batting between the squares or just flannel? thanks thanks!

HI, I use batting, Warm and Natural. I use either a straight pc for sides and bottom or I use squares. It is easier to use the straight pc.
I use Timtex in the bottome to stiffen the bottoms. It is an iorn on material used to make fabric bowls.
I make the zipper pocket and attach to each side on the inside. Makes for larger pocket and 2 slots on each side.
If forgot anything, lol ask again
