I have trouble with my 1/4" pressor foot, the one with the dull blade on the side for guiding the fabric.

It's like the feeddogs are trying to push the fabric to the left. Anyone else with this problem?

I've tried going slow, going fast, readjusting every inch or so, keeping fabric feeding in straight and also holding (gently) fabric on the back to make it stay straight. It's very obviously not a straight seam!

I don't have this problem with a regular foot. Normally I use my regular piecing foot and a magnetic seam guide. I would really like to get the use of the one made especially for 1/4" seams tho!

My machine automatically adjusts tension and pressure.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Sorry, I'm not able to help you with this one, but I recognized something else.

Usually when you purchase the magnetic seam guide, it tells you not to use it on a computerized machine.

I don't know what could go wrong with it, may be it's just like holding a magnet to a TV.

I hope your problem with the 1/4 foot will work out.

I was afraid of that also, but the Babylock dealer assured me it wasn't a problem.

I bought the magnetic mainly for use with my Juki which is purely mechanical.

Thank you, I might have to stop by the dealer and ask them for their advice. It's weird that it only happens with this foot that came with the machine.

I recommend using the one without the guide, I like it much better on the espire, you can see better.

My Espire does not push the foot but I found that the seam is larger than 1/4" when I have the fabric running against the guide. So I started using the regular foot (the one with the little screw at the side to ease over seams) and setting the needle position to the right. Perfect 1/4" seams every time.

I took the suggestion of using the regular foot. It does work a lot better. Seams are straighter. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

At least I didn't pay anything for the 1/4" foot/guide. It came with the machine.
