do you think this looks alright with gold colored red in the center? This is one block of Carol Doaks anniversary star.

Looks to blend in with the surrounding fabric to me...you may want to get more contrast.

I think it tends to blend with the background fabric. One solution would be to add a narrow strip between the two to define more.
Maybe try switching the background fabric with the last blade.

IMHO I think the background print is a bit large and busy (although I know you need that for paper piecing - I do it too :)
It is really hard to tell until all four blocks are together to make the block. Nice piecing.

Change out the background fabric with the cream and it will contrast wonderful. Actually, put your background fabric into the design and use any one of the other three as background and it would look nice.

I like that it blends in. gives a different look to the block. I would make 4 and see if all 4 of them look together and then decide on the red. Depends on the look you are trying to achieve!

I would trya green print in the center blade or use the cream color there. I like the busy background fabric. I would use more reads as a solid in the blades. Great piecing. Happy Quilting!

I would use a darker Gold in the center. Your fabric choices are STUNNING! I love your background!

I agree with using a darker gold for the middle section.
