Not-Your-Usual Log Cabin Baby Quilt
#1
I made this quilt for my great niece (the first baby in a new generation) who is expected in the fall. It is a wonky log cabin, made with instructions I got from the Message Board (of course!). Quilt Dad has GREAT step-by-step instructions:

I made the quilt with a University of Alabama theme because the prospective parents and I are the only Bama fans in a big family of Florida Gators -- we have got to stand together! I used crimson and white for the school colors and added in pink because every baby girl needs pink. The wonky log cabin squares were so much fun to make and more addicting than potato chips.
I used the Cotton Theory method to quilt this on my domestic machine, so while not intentional, my wonky sashing blocks fit right in with the wonky log cabins.

Wonky Log Cabin is 40 x 60. That seems big to me for a baby!

Each block is 6. This is my 5th quilt, and my stippling is getting a bit better with each one.

I purchased the center block with the Alabama embroidered logo in a kit at the Houston Show last year.

I used the embroidery feature of my machine to add a message on the back of the quilt. It also serves as quilting to hold the layers together.

Quilt Inspector approves of the finished product. The new baby will have two dogs of her own to cuddle with on this quilt.
