Is anyone using Steady Betty and is it worth the money?

It's a pressing surface that keeps the object in place without shifting or distorting it. It's sold in different sizes. I first saw it mentioned on this website.

I'd heard from ladies at 2 different LQS's that they are wonderful but the price was more than I wanted to pay.
Sooooo, showed my handy husband and he made me one from wood and table liner material from Hancock's. It was a fraction of the cost and made to the size I want. It works great and was also told they are great for ironing embroidery on cause it doesn't smash the design down.
I haven't used it a lot because I've promised myself to FMQ several quilt tops before I start any new projects. I have 1 top done and about 4 to go so it will be a bit before I go back to piecing and using my new toy.

Table liner makes sense, since it's for hot dishes, et. I didn't see it in Hancock's website.

Yes, I bought it after seeing it on America Sews. I love it. It is a little pricey but I think it's worth it. It really does work. I no longer have the tucks on the seamlines that I used to get before. I don't regret buying it at all.

The table liner I found will not hold the fabric like the Steady Betty. What table liner fabric did you use?

I really like Betty. I got it with a 50% off coupon from Joanns.com when they had a free shipping promo.
